Looking for the Light

What are you looking for?

I love how looking through a lens causes you to see the world differently.

You pick up a camera, look through the viewfinder, and the lens directs your eye to the subject. Everything else falls to the wayside as you focus in and capture that moment.

We all have lenses, don’t we?  What lens is affecting your view of life?  Is it helping or harming? One thing I’ve learned in life is that we CAN change our lens. We have a choice.

And what about focus? What are you focusing on? Are you focusing on the things you have in your life to be thankful about, or the things that pull you down? There is so much power in thankfulness and focusing on the good.

What should we look for?

I believe that in life, as well as in photography, we must look for the light.  It’s not always easy to see it.  Sometimes we have to search.

Light in photography is everything. The word “photography” literally means “drawing with light.”

What about shadows? The darkness is what highlights the beauty of the light, by contrast. Remember, the shadow proves the sunshine. We can see the shadows in our life simply as shadows, or we can see them of proof of the light.

Photography was the beginning of an epic journey for me, of searching for beauty and light, of connecting with people, and of capturing this beautiful mess called life.

When you pick up a camera, it helps you to see the light and look for eternal moments.  Even when the camera is down, your eyes will keep looking for the light and the story.

For me, finding the light became a way of life. It’s about a creative viewpoint, a change in perspective, that can make all the difference, both in your photography and in your life. I want this for you, too.

In my “Looking for the Light: Photography + Life” online course I will teach you about looking for the light both in photography, and in life.
